|Kingfisher on Mossy Branch|
Four day workshop.
will be completing one image this time, of a kingfisher on a mossy
branch in colour pencil. Each day we will do studies of different
features, ie eyes, beaks, feet, moss, wood. These studies will
include other birds than our kingfisher, to give you a wider
understanding of how to draw birds of all kinds. We will be doing
graphite studies as well as colour pencil studies. All the colour
pencil techniques needed to complete our Kingfisher drawing will be
learnt as well. On Tuesday we have a longer session over drinks and
nibbles with a discussion session and followed by a dinner.
Cost is $420 for the four days. Individual
days are $120 each day.
Flowering Cactus in Colour Pencil.
A combination of brilliantly coloured flowers and textured spiky plant. We will learn to draw the fragile, transparent petals of the flowers in colour pencil and do the plant in graphite. An interesting and exciting combination.
Tawny Frogmouth in Graphite and Colour Pencil.
These birds have a wonderful patterning that lets them blend into their background. They have a bright coloured eye and some attitude as well. We'll create them in colour pencil, learning to use our grey colour combinations.
Faces in Colour Pencil.
Drawing people is very challenging as you need to be exact about the details. We will do studies of parts of the face to learn to construct our portraits, rather than doing one portrait we will learn how to create lots of different features, including a range of skin colours.
Turtle in Graphite and Colour Pencil.
A toothless grin, lots of wrinkles and shapes. We will learn to capture the turtle's personality as well as all his textures in graphite pencil, using all our techniques. A good way to extend your graphite skill levels as well as learn to capture the personality of your subject.
Tone into Colour.
There is a skill to separating the pattern of subjects from their tonal shading and translating their 3Dness into 2D colour. We will learn to work from a colour image into grey tones, then into colour, then a patterned subject into tone and pattern.
Scarlet Robin on a tap in Colour Pencil.
Combining two subjects into the one image is our challenge in this workshop. We will learn how to measure our subjects, to make them correct size to each other as well as how to draw them both in colour pencil. We will have some real taps to look at as well as photographs.
Cost is $100 per workshop
